Low-tack painter’s tape and a Sharpie marker to label containers headed for the fridge, freezer, or pantry. The tape is easy to write on, sticky enough to stay, and simple to remove. I keep painter’s tape and a marker handy in the same kitchen drawer as my rolls of foil, plastic wrap, and resealable bags.

 
The Off Duty section of the Wall Street Journal, included in every Saturday issue. Off Duty is a mix of everything good: recipes, decorating tips, stories on wine, travelogues, a car reviewer who quotes Bon Jovi lyrics, and gear recommendations of all types. I have no use for the fashion tips, but they do offer a window on a strange world.
